My Amazing Summery.

Hi welcome back to my blog. Today I will be sharing with you my Summery all about S.V.A known as Student Volunteer Army. Hope you enjoy.

Intro: Be a volunteer and stand up in the world that is the SVA( Student volunteer army) motto. What SVA is about there are a team of volunteered students that go around the country cleaning up for example when Christchurch had the big earthquake in September 2010 a boy called Sam Johnson created a Facebook group and cleaning up the liquefaction around Christchurch.
After the S.O.S went out on Facebook there were about 2500 students volunteered to go and clean up and it was a big success. After the big earthquake Christchurch was struck again and the S.U.V came and cleaned up around our city.
They made a big commitment that they held something called “The Concert” were it required 4 hour of volunteering to get a ticket. Over 8000 tickets were given out. The visit from his Royal Highness Prince Harry was a amazing experience. Some even got to talk with his Royal Highness about there organisation.
They were awarded “Best Community Contribution” 4 years running at the University of Canterbury Students Association Supreme Club Awards from 2013-16.  They believe that people can anyone can join and help people that need it.
There story is great and they helped so much and I think they enjoyed it and I surely enjoyed there story. Over 10 projects and multiple  schools around the country pledge their time and volunteered within there community.
Hope you enjoyed my Summery.

My Biography.

Hello welcome back to my blog today I will be sharing to you my Biography It is about Helen Clark hope you enjoy.

Helen Clark
“Girl’s can do anything. We do do anything and we expect to be treated as equals”.

Helen Clark was born on the 26 of February in Waipa District. With her parents Margaret McMurray, and George Clark and her 3 younger sisters.

Helen Clark was the first female to get elected for prime minister of New Zealand.
Before this, Helen Clark was educated at Epsom Girls' Grammar School and  she graduated, from the University of Auckland, with a Bachelor of Arts in 1971. She majored in politics at university and her thesis focused on rural political behavior and representation.

Helen was the 37th Prime minister for New Zealand and the first female to get elected for Prime Minister. She was elected on 5th of December 1999 and was Prime Minister from 1999 till 2008.
She was the 5th longest Prime Minister which was a total of 8 years and 350 days. She was the first Women elected for Prime minister in New Zealand. After her 8 years of being Prime minister she was known as the 20th most powerful women in the world.

One of her greatest moments is when it was John key vs Helen for the spot of Prime Minister.
Helen Clark lead the party Labor and became the largest party in parliament from 1999 to 2008. Helen became the second woman to serve as Prime Minister of New Zealand, and the first to have won office at an election. She also served as the Minister for Arts, throughout her premiership.

Plus married to Peter Davis in 1981.
They way I think she shows greatness by becoming the first female Prime Minister to get elected for New Zealand. Where others thought being Prime Minister would be a “Man's” job, not a women. Now she is currently retired.

From what I have heard she did a fine good job and this is one of her quotes that stood out to me.“Women equally power me”. What I think her quote means is that women have the equal rights as men and Helen Clark really showed that. Women don’t want to be treated differently to men and I don’t think men would either.
Hope you enjoyed my Biography.

Swimming Lessons.

Hello welcome back to my blog today I will be telling you about our first week of swimming lessons so lets get right into it.

Monday morning. We were ready to go we grabbed our bags and headed to Kakano to get arranged into our buddies I had been budded up with my sister. When everyone had there buddy we headed for the bus. Once we got there we got changed into our togs. Once we were changed we went and sat down to wait for our turn. Once it was our turn we got set up into groups I was put into the middle group. After we were arranged into our groups we jumped into the pool and began our lesson. We did this for a entire week. Then released we had to do it for 2 weeks so we went back there again but that's for another story.

Swimming Sports.

Today is the day of swimming sports laps of strokes 25 to 50 meters. We are racing for the title of representing our school in the swimming sports these are the strokes we are racing in.

25m Breaststroke
25m Backstroke
25m Freestyle

Then there are the 50m

50m Breaststroke
50m Backstroke
50m Freestyle
50m Butterfly.

I competed in 25m Freestyle and 25m Backstroke. 25m races were going first.
Now after waiting for so long it is time for my race 25m Freestyle. In the water getting ready 3 2 1 and were off. Once we finished I realized  that I had come first hooray but Sadly 25m don't go to zones but that OK. After a little more waiting it was my next race 25m Backstroke. We jump into the water getting ready steady Go. Were off again the Butterfly's left as soon as I started near the end and done.
Once again I came first that great. After all the 50m races it was time to go. Now that is the end of Swimming Sports.

My first time being a leader.

Hola welcome back to Blog with me.
This week I am telling you all about my second week at school lets get into it.

Friday 8 of February 2019
It was lunch time and we had been told the we would be running sports games today I am a year 7 this year. Since I am a year 7 I don't need to do the games the year 7 are looking after there team but the year 8 have to play and look after the game. During lunch we were getting into our teams. Once we found and got into our teams the year 7 leaders were given a list of where they had to take there team.
The first one we did was doge-ball it wasn't a completion it was just to have fun but then right after that game I had to go to the dentist.  After I left the Dental van I missed 3 games but that's OK I played the rest of the games till the end of the day. But I must say I am excited for this new school year.

Come get then before they all run out or Spin out

This term our Project Based Learning (PBL) has been about design and the big question was; How can we use a Steam approach to make a marketable product?

First we learned what STEAM stood for.
S for Science
T for Technology
E for Engineering
A for the Arts
and M for Maths
Then we were given challenges. The first to make a chair using newspaper, string and straws that was able to hold a figure made out of multi-link blocks.
Then; make a table that was able to balance MnMs for the team. We were much better at the second challenge because we knew what we did wrong in the first challenge and learned what we had to do differently.

In Literacy we learned to write up science experiments and to write a technology report using the design process of ask, imagine, plan, create, improve and share.
Technology            Static Electricity

Our next step was to form teams and ask ourselves the big question again.
How can we use a Steam approach to make a marketable product? Our aim was to create enough products or experiences and sell it to raise money for charity.

My team made a colour spinner it was easy to make but the hardest part was the colouring. we had a bit of trouble with the string but we used rubber bands and found a way to make it better and ready to sell. Here is a picture of what we did and made at the Market.

Reflection

My highlight from this PBL was when we sold out faster than we thought that gave us more time to go and look around the Market. Also my sister was the last one to buy one so I can play with t at home to.

Next time I would make more because we sold out quicker than we thought and when we sold out when we were all cleaning up people were wanting to buy some but we didn't have anymore.

Would you buy our spinners?
