Reading Task Term 2

Today I am going to be sharing with you my Reading task for this week. Here is my goal for this week. Goal:  "Making connections between and across texts."
Here is my task for this week.

For reading this week I read:
Text 1: Te Tiriti o Waitangi

Text 2: Keeping Promises

My thinking:
Make connections between and across at least two texts and general knowledge to expand meaning and pose questions
The new learning I now have are:

That the English Government didn’t translate what was on the Treaty properly and that the two cultures would have a completely different understanding on what they were signing. When it came down to the English people promised stuff for the Maori it wouldn’t always go as planned

2 Questions I have are:
How is it back in 1840’s how did the English know what the Maori wanted because no one would be able to understand them?
How did they when writing the Treaty know what each other wanted. How did they translate it?

Use prior knowledge to connect to at least two texts
The prior knowledge I had for Text 1 was:
I knew that for over 500 years Maori had Aotearoa to themselves.

I knew that the Maori asked for protection from the King of England.

The prior knowledge I had for Text 2 was:
The treaty of Waitangi was a sign of peace and the Queen of England the 2nd came and visited NZ wear a fur coat gifted to her by one of the tribes chefs

The treaty of waiting had some typos and that one word in English didn’t mean the same thing in Maori so that led to confusion when it came to getting what the Maori wanted and what they thought signed.

Make connections between at least two texts and own life experiences
2 things that I could relate to from my own life experience in Text 1 was:
It is hard to have something that is yours for so long and now is yours but then at the click of a button it is taken from you just like that.

How there can be miss understandings and some things not going as planned with what some people promised but 2 were thinking of something different. It is hard to forgive and forget and that is something I have had to face.

2 things that I could relate to from my own life experience in Text 2 was:
I guess how this text could relate to me in my own life experience is that keeping promises when you think you getting something but 2 people are thinking of different things and when it comes down to that promise it looks as if they broke it without knowing.
Taking something from me that was mine but nothing in return.

This was my Task for this week I hope you enjoyed reading it. It was very interesting reading about The Treaty Of Waitangi and how much New Zealand has grown since then. I hope you enjoyed. Until Next time. Bye!

What do you know about the Treaty Of Waitangi?

Welcome back to my blog today I am going to be sharing with you my writing task for this week. Today was the first time going to school online and it was really interesting. We are split into groups and are put in a call with a teacher and they explain the task. My Writing Goal: Use reference sources to check meanings and find new words. We had to take a paragraph from our reports we have been writing and edit it in some shape or form. Here is mine.
Here it is I hope you like it. That's all for now. Bye

Math's Term 2

Hi welcome back to another blog. The first blog for the new term. Witch I am spending at home. Today was the first day of online school we were all put into groups for math's, reading and writing. Today I am going to be covering math's.
Goal:  L4 Identify and use the features of a figure that do not change as it is reflected, rotated, translated or enlarged. We had to create a google drawing with one shape creating a pattern. Here it is.
I used the triangle for this creating a pattern with only using one shape and it all had to be the same no overlapping or gaps. But that's it for this blog. Bye.

Covid-19 Quarantine

Hi welcome back to my blog. Today I am going to be sharing with you my Quarantine Journey. We have almost past the first week of the official lock down for Covid 19. On Monday the 23 of March was the last day my school was open and haven't been there since. At first when I was told the news I was happy because no school. But didn't release how long it would actually be. When I was told it was going to be 4 weeks I was happy but at the same time sad here is why. Things I'm happy about in Quarantine: I get to spend time with my family have time by myself and take a break and think of it as a holiday but also doing online classes. Things I'm sad about in Quarantine: Can get quit annoying just being around my family, Can't see my friends who I miss so much and we do face time but it's not the same, Also i get bored. We only got past week one and now there thinking of extending it for another few weeks. What my family and I do in Quarantine is my mum works from home my sister and I find something to do and my dad might be cooking or something. My mum works from home. I might be in my room doing something. But always a the end of the day when my mum finish work we eat dinner and then we take our dog for a walk around our neighborhood. We can't go far but it's always nice to go outside into the fresh air. I hope the Virus slows down so it's safe for everyone to go out. But until then I'm stuck inside. That's all for now. Bye.

What are you doing in Quarantine?
